Murray Mayoral Candidate Charged with Possession of ‘Marijuana Wax,’ Paraphernalia

Murray Police

A Murray mayoral candidate was charged with possession of ‘marijuana wax’ and drug paraphernalia over the weekend.

Police say 36-year-old Clifton Darnell was cited and charged on Sunday.

The Murray Police Department responded to a call on Chris Drive regarding a possible assault. Police say there were no signs of an assault and the reporting victim did not wish to press charges.

Officers were alerted to possible drug paraphernalia in Darnell’s vehicle. After a search, they found multiple drug paraphernalia and a container of marijuana wax.

Murray Police Department Sergeant Brant Shutt confirmed Darnell is running for mayor in the 2018 election.
