MSU’s Payne Named OVC Male Athlete Of The Year

Murray State point guard Cameron Payne has been named the 2014-2015 Ohio Valley Conference Male Athlete of the Year. The sophomore was chosen in voting by OVC athletics directors and sports information directors. Payne is the ninth Murray State student athlete to win the honor since 1980 and the first since Isaiah Canaan was named in 2012. The Memphis, Tennessee native averaged over 20 points and 6 assists per game, helping the Racers to the nation’s second-longest winning streak and their 24^th regular season championship. Payne will be honored at a ceremony in Nashville on May 29^th.

Todd Hatton hails from Paducah, Kentucky, where he got into radio under the auspices of the late, great John Stewart of WKYX while a student at Paducah Community College. He also worked at WKMS in the reel-to-reel tape days of the early 1990s before running off first to San Francisco, then Orlando in search of something to do when he grew up.
