Bowling Green, KY – The incumbent in next year's U.S. Senate Race in Kentucky has fewer campaign donations than a key democratic challenger. Republican Senator Jim Bunning has released his first-quarter fundraising totals. Lisa Autry has details.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Senator Bunning pulled in nearly $263,000, compared to the $420,000 raised by Kentucky Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo. He's one of three democrats wanting to challenge Bunning in the 2010 race. Even though Mongiardo outraised Bunning in the first quarter, the two-term GOP Senator says he's still ahead. He points to $650,000 in debt left over from Mongiardo's unsuccessful bid to unseat Bunning in 2004.

Were you surprised by his first-quarter total? I didn't follow what his first quarter total was. 420. Minus 650, so he's still $225,000 in the hole.

Democratic Attorney General Jack Conway, who announced last week that he's seeking the Democratic nomination, has not yet begun raising funds. Democrat Darlene Fitzgerald Price, who's running a limited campaign, reported raising $5,500 in the first quarter.
