Model Railroading in Madisonville
By Chad Lampe
In the basement of Don Clayton’s Madisonville home a different world exists. The 1800 square foot space is home to hundreds of O-scale model train cars and dozens of engines. A group of men aged 19 to 82 gather weekly in Don’s basement to run their trains, many of them have been doing it for 30 years.
The set up consists of three main lines, numerous track switches and full passenger depot set with homemade stucco and a wrist watch doubling for the clock on the front of the building. The landscape consists of towns folk a scale model rock quarry and mountains with the occasional tunnel .
Hear more about the passion of these men in our audio postcard.
Here's a short video from our night running trains.
