The National Weather Service in Paducah says a flood warning has been issued Monday afternoon for west Kentucky and Pulaski, Pope, Hardin and Massac counties in southern Illinois.
A flood watch will remain throughout the night.
The NWS said another one to two inches of rain will fall on top of the already four to six inches of rain accumulated across the region over the past week.
Widespread minor flooding is occurring along the Ohio River. The NWS expects this flooding to intensify this week. Cairo is forecast to see major flooding-- cresting at 53 feet early next week.
Winds of up to 40 mph are expected on Tuesday and more rain is forecast for later this week.
