Media Release: WKMS Cookie Contest Finalists Announced

Murray State’s NPR station, 91.3 WKMS-FM, has narrowed the field of competition to five finalists in its first annual cookie contest. The five cookie makers convene in the food preparation laboratories of MSU’s Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Management Program this Saturday.
 
The finalists are:  Patricia Carrico for French Cream Wafers; Erin Carrico for Coconut Butter Cookies; Barbara Cox for Double Chocolate Dream Cookies; Jessica Evans for Macadamia Cookies with Lemon and White Chocolate; and Susie Fenwick for Brown Butter Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies.

 
Cookie bakers are bringing all their ingredients and utensils to the laboratories Saturday morning to compete in a bake-off for gift certificates for kitchen items at Elements, Murray.  The first prize is a $250 gift certificate; second a $125 gift certificate; and third a $75 gift certificate.  Each of the finalists also receives an autographed copy of Lynne Rosetto Kasper’s book, A Summertime Grilling Guide from The Splendid Table.
 
The Splendid Table is public radio's culinary, culture, and lifestyle program that celebrates food and its ability to touch the lives and feed the souls of everyone.  It’s on WKMS at 10 a.m. Sundays.
 
WKMS broadcasts to over 20,000 listeners in western Kentucky, southernmost Illinois and northwestern Tennessee. The station's media services include 91.3 WKMS-FM, Murray; WKMS HD-1 and All-Music HD-2; 90.9 WKMD and WKMD HD-1 and HD-2, Madisonville; 89.5 WKMT, Fulton; 99.5 Paris, Tenn., and All-Music 92.5 Paducah and 101.5 Madisonville. The station also offers both channels WKMS HD-1 and HD-2 at wkms.org, where weekly schedules of programs are available.    

Jenni holds a degree in Music Education from Murray State University and a Masters degree in Arts Administration from Florida State University's College of Music. She's equipped with knowledge and enthusiasm for fundraising and the arts. She also serves as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and on the Murray Independent School District Foundation for Excellence Board of Directors.
