Local Chambers Support VLTs

By Carrie Pond

Paducah, KY – Three area Chambers of Commerce say they support the initiative to allow video lottery terminals, or VLTs at state race tracks. Chambers in Henderson, Paducah and Hopkinsville have expressed support for Governor Beshear's proposal. Beshear claims his plan would generate almost $800 million in the first year of operation. Those in the state's horse industry are concerned about its future as breeders take their horses out of Kentucky for expanded gaming funded incentives. The General Assembly is set to discuss the issue during a special session that begins Monday.
