KYTC Awards Contracts for I-69 Corridor Upgrades

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet awards two contracts for interchange upgrades on the I-69 corridor in Marshall and Graves Counties. Governor Matt Bevin announced both contracts totaling more than $60 million dollars will go to Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers.

The projects include reconstructing I-24/Julian Carroll-Purchase Parkway near Calvert City and the U.S. 45-Bypass/Purchase Parkway southwest of Mayfield and the reconstruction of the KY 80 Mayfield with improved connections to U.S. 45.

Gov. Bevin says expanding I-69 through western Kentucky is "a catalyst for future economic development." KYTC District 1 Chief Engineer Mike McGregor predicts work will begin at both sites in March.

Construction is expected to take two years to complete.
