KY Jobless Rate Up in February

By AP

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky's jobless rate rose to 10.9% in February, the highest since September 1983. That's according to an Office of Employment and Training report released Thursday. Chief state labor market analyst Justine Detzel says nonfarm employment in the state has dropped to its lowest level since April 1998. Only three of 11 major nonfarm job sectors reported an employment increase: educational and health services; leisure and hospitality; and services such as repair and maintenance businesses.

The U.S. Department of Labor reports the nation's jobless rate remained at 9.7% from January 2010 to February 2010.
