KKK Recruitment Flyers in Murray Again, Targeting Transgender Bathroom Controversy

Murray Resident

Murray residents have found Ku Klux Klan recruitment fliers on their lawns again. This time they use the current transgender bathroom controversy to recruit new members. The flyers reference the King James Bible and suggest transgender people “use a tree out in the back yard” to go to the bathroom.

The flyers were found in at least one neighborhood over the weekend. The Murray Police Department says they have received no calls reporting the incident.

MPD received several calls from across the city in March reporting KKK recruitment flyers referencing the Black Lives Matter movement and the Confederate flag debate. Other media outlets reported similar flyers distributed in Marshall County in December.

Some Murray residents have responded to the KKK recruitment effort with 100 yard signs reading “There’s no place for hate in Murray, KY.” Organizer Barbara Cobb says concerned citizens and business owners are asking for more signs.
