State officials say Kentucky’s unemployment rate fell slightly in June. The state Office of Employment and Training said Thursday that last month's jobless rate dropped to 5 percent, down from a revised 5.1 percent in May.

The national jobless rate was 4.9 percent last month. Kentucky officials say the state's construction sector added 1,300 jobs last month.

Other sectors with employment gains included professional and business services, financial activities, educational and health services and the government sector.

The manufacturing sector reported 100 fewer jobs than the previous month. The state's trade, transportation and utilities sector lost 1,000 jobs in June.
