Kentucky Emergency Management Response Team to Assist with Hurricane Matthew

EMAC

Kentucky Emergency Management is sending a response team to provide assistance to states impacted by Hurricane Matthew.

South Carolina and Florida are seeking for volunteer coordinators, public information officers and water rescue teams to support existing personnel.

The requests are under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.  The EMAC is a state-to-state mutual aid agreement under which the requesting state reimburses all costs incurred by the provider state.

KYEM Director Michael Dossett says the Commonwealth is glad to offer any possible assistance to partner states.

Kentucky Utilities is also sending some 130 electrical workersto Florida to assist with any electrical restoration throughout the hurricane period.

Rob Canning is a native of Murray, KY, a 2015 TV Production grad of Murray State. At MSU, he served as team captain of the Murray State Rowing Club. Rob's goal is to become a screenwriter, film director or producer and looks to the likes of Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie for inspiration. He appreciates good music, mainly favoring British rock n' roll, and approves of anything with Jack White's name on it. When not studying, rowing or writing, Rob enjoys spending his free time with a book or guitar.
