The start of the 2017 fall meet at Keeneland also signals the beginning of a new social media service to offer pre-race betting advice.  Racing at the historic Lexington track begins Friday and runs through October 28th.

Keeneland Chief Marketing Officer Christa Marrillia says the Twitter handle @BetKeeneland is in play this fall.

“This is going to be a channel where people who want that up to the moment tips and advice on placing that wager,” said Marrillia.  “It’s all going to be right there.”

Marrillia also notes the "Keeneland Now" podcast will offer pre-race tips.

“We’re going to do just a very short 60 second podcast before each race where an expert handicapper will give you that last minute paddock report advice on what’s happening and allow you to make a really informed decision when you’re placing your wager,” Marrillia explained.

Keeneland is also requiring jockeys competing in the fall meet to complete a baseline concussion assessment prior to being allowed to ride.  The track is among the first in the U.S. to establish "concussion management and return-to-participation" protocol.
