The City of Murray has chosen a new mayor. Challenger Jack Rose unseated incumbent Bill Wells Tuesday night in a close race. Just 149 votes separated the pair.
Rose says he felt a weight lifted from his shoulders when he heard the news.
“As far as people electing you to an office like that, it’s an honor but it’s also very humbling. I just feel very blessed to have the people in Murray elect me to that office," Rose said.
Rose previously served as Murray State University’s Faculty Regent. He announced his mayoral candidacy late last year.
