Hopkinsville v AT&T

By Chris Taylor

Hopkinsville, KY – Hopkinsville's Cable Television Oversight Authority board recommended the City Council reject an out-of-court compromise on its lawsuit against AT&T. No details on what that proposal involved have been released to the public and the board deliberated behind closed doors. The Kentucky New Era reports City Councilors will now vote Monday whether to accept or reject that compromise. The disagreement stems from the city's assertion that AT&T should be required to apply for a city franchise in order to offer cable television service through its telephone lines. AT&T disagrees. The lawsuit is to be heard by the U-S District Court in Paducah.
