A local supplier of customizable wooden pickup truck beds is expanding its Hopkinsville operation, effectively adding 42 new jobs.
Bed Wood and Parts, LLC plans to more than double its square footage nearly 23,000 feet and add new equipment as part of a $3.7 million expansion.
The facility opened in Christian County in 2006 to manufacture and supplier aftermarket domestic and exotic wood beds for pickup trucks, with only 6 full time workers.
“Bed Wood and Parts’ new manufacturing space and equipment allows us to increase our core production capabilities in key areas, provide enhanced operational efficiencies and exceed customer expectations for rapid order fulfillment, better meeting the needs of our customers,” said company founder Jeff Major. “Our team is excited about the growth we are experiencing in Kentucky and this expansion represents a commitment to continue to build on the success our team has accomplished.”
The expansion was encouraged with up to $1 million in tax incentives through the Kentucky Business Investment program.
The expansion also makes the company eligible for resources through the Kentucky Skills Network, including no-cost recruitment and job placement services.
The company says its wooden beds are popular among truck customizers and are seeing increased demand from hunters and for athletic and motorsport-event tailgating.
