Honeywell's Metropolis plant will reopen for emergency drills and testing this week after a uranium hexafluoride gas leak last month shutdown the facility.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has completed an inspection saying no detectable radioactive material was released and posed no danger to surrounding residents.
A local union in a labor dispute with Honeywell disagrees with the report.
Honeywell Officials believe the leak was only internal and caused by a mechanical failure near the end of the production process. That equipment has since been removed.
Employees at the plant will undergo emergency response drills early this week, some of which will be monitored by the NRC and local emergency responders.
