Henry County Tornado Exercise Set for Friday

Henry County Schools

Henry County Emergency Management will conduct a mock tornado exercise Friday morning at Henry County High School.

Fire trucks, ambulances and police cruisers will respond to the scene, where students will be evacuated from the school. Between 50 and 60 students will be mock-treated for injuries that could be sustained in a partial collapse of one of the school’s buildings. The students selected for fake injuries during the exercise will be transported to Henry County Medical Center.

"This is going to be a great opportunity for the high school to practice newly-updated emergency operations plans recently adopted," said Henry County Emergency Management director Ron Watkins, in a news release. "This will allow practice of accountability of the entire student body in a short time, which is crucial during an emergency incident."

The drill begins at 8:30 a.m.
