The McCracken County Board of education has voted to relocate the Heath High School shooting memorial.
A school shooting in 1997 killed three girls between the ages of 14 and 17. The memorial is located behind a fence at Heath Middle School but may only be accessed by those with permission. It will be moved to an open lot across the street from the middle school in a project costing under $20,000. The new memorial will be designed by the parents of the victims and will include 24/7 access and lighting at night.
Christina Ellegood, the sister of one of the victims, is head of the project.
