Hazel Council Sets Aside Funds for Land

By Casey Northcutt

Hazel, KY – The Hazel City Council has set aside a large portion of its 2009-2010 budget to purchase land near its downtown area. Council member Nancy Mieure (Mure) says they voted unanimously to pay $21,500 for a lot just north of the Heart of Hazel Antique Mall. Members discussed using the land as a site for a small park or short-term medical clinic. Mieure says the council simply wants a piece of land ready for any "shovel ready" grants the government might award the city.
