A fundraiser to bring home the body of a slain Calloway County resident has met its $5000 goal just 2 days after it began.
22-year-old Georgetown College graduate Erica Faith Hagan was found dead in her apartment in Chile over the weekend. Hagan was part of a mission trip to teach English in the area.
The unnamed author of the fundraiser's GoFundMe.com page, claiming to be a relative, says he started the effort to give his sister a proper funeral.
"It's very obvious she was loved by many. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten," the page says.
While donors have reached the $5,000 goal, Hagan's family is accepting further donations to cover additional funeral expenses.
According to the fundraiser website, police are treating the death as a homicide.
