Fort Campbell Schedules Listening Session Ahead of Possible Troop Reductions

With possible troop reductions looming at Fort Campbell, officials there have organized a community listening session set to take place next month.

According to the Fort Campbell Courier, the public comment event will take place at 6 p.m. January 20 at the base’s family resource center, with local politicians and military leaders in attendance.

Due to budget cuts, the U.S. Army has analyzed a possible reduction of 16,000 personnel from Fort Campbell, which is about half of the base’s current population. Last month, the Department of Defense decided to deactivate the 159th Combat Aviation "Thunder" Brigade from Fort Campbell, which means an active soldier personnel reduction of 2,400.
