Former Reidland Middle School Teacher Arrested on Sexual Abuse Charges

McCracken County Sheriff's Department

A former Reidland Middle School teacher has been arrested after police received a complaint describing an alleged inappropriate student/teacher relationship. The McCracken County Sheriff Department says Chelsea Rose, 24, turned herself in Friday.

Reidland Middle School personnel and school resource officers brought the complaint to the sheriff's department Monday. Another student reported the alleged relationship.

Data from Rose’s cell phone revealed inappropriate messages and content sent to the student, who has not been publicly identified.

Police know of one alleged sexual contact instance in McCracken County.

In an interview, Rose acknowledged the relationship. She has since been suspended.

Further investigation this week also uncovered another incident where Rose allegedly took three students to a home in Marshall County where alcohol was provided; allegations of sexual contact between Rose and the unidentified student have been made.

The charges applicable in McCracken County include:

  • Possession of matter portraying a sexual performance of a minor
  • Criminal solicitation to unlawful transaction of a minor, 1st degree

While the Marshall County charges are as follows:

  • Unlawful transaction with a minor, 1st degree
  • Unlawful transaction with a minor, 3rd degree (three counts)

The investigation remains ongoing.
