Pope Francis will make his first trip to the U.S. this week and an Elizabethtown native will have a front row seat. Sean McKinley is studying at the Theological College at the Catholic University of America in Washington. He’ll get to attend a mass with the pope at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in D.C.
McKinley is unsure if he’ll get to personally meet Pope Francis, but said it will be exciting just to be at the mass. McKinley was ordained as a deacon in March and hopes to be an ordained priest next May with the Archdiocese of Louisville.
