UPDATE:
Murray city officials are awaiting a structural engineer's report on a partially-collapsed downtown building.
Public safety officials met Sunday afternoon at City Hall to assess the situation involving the building’s collapse Saturday night. Property owner Jeremy Latimer was then presented with a 72-hour window to bring in a structural engineer to make recommendations. Latimer said he would comply with that recommendation.
No one was injured in the collapse. The building, located just off the court square at 314 Main St., houses the offices of attorney Rick Jones as well as apartments.
Murray finance director Alan Lanier said residents should avoid the court square area Monday unless absolutely necessary.
“We will have the area cordoned off,” Lanier said. “We will have numerous police vehicles stationed throughout that area, advising folks and maintaining that perimeter.”
The cordoned-off area runs from Walnut Street south to Main, and then east to Third Street. Lanier said any downtown buildings that had their utilities cut off in the aftermath of the building’s collapse should have service restored Monday unless their building is found to be in jeopardy.

A building in downtown Murray collapsed Saturday night at Fourth and Main streets.
Calloway County Sheriff Bill Marcum says the fire chief is inspecting the site and that the building was unoccupied when it collapsed around 10:30 p.m.
The ground level contained law and insurance offices with apartments in the building's upper level. No one was home at the time of the collapse.
Marcum says no more information is available at the time, but an investigation continues.
