Decision Delayed on Possible Fort Campbell Troop Reduction

A decision on possible troop reductions at Fort Campbell, once expected by the end of June, has been pushed to the end of this month.

Christian County Chamber of Commerce director of military and governmental affairs Katie Lopez confirms that the decision was expected this week, but the chamber received word from the Army that it would be postponed until at least the middle of July.

One possibility mulled by the Department of Defense calls for 16,000 personnel cuts - about half of Fort Campbell’s current payroll. The expected cuts are a result of military budget constraints.
