Datebook: November 3 - Paint-A-Thon, I Came from a Star, President's Concert

There’s an Empty Bowls Project Paint-A-Thon and chili supper this Friday night from 6-8 at Marcella’s Kitchen in Draffenville. Each painted bowl is used in the 2016 Empty Bowls Project Dinner. Proceeds from the project support Marcella’s Kitchen, a community kitchen that feeds the hungry five days a week. Paint-A-Thon tickets are available at the door.

An exhibit titled “I CAME FROM A STAR” remains on display through this Saturday at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah. The solo exhibit of folk art paintings features the work of Gay Speirbhain, a Tennessee native who spent 25 years living and working on a Native American reservation in New Mexico.

The Murray State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble presents its annual President’s Concert this Thursday night at 7:30 in Lovett Auditorium. The concert features Symphony No. 2 by composer Brett Abigaña, who will be in attendance. The concert is free and open to the public.
