Datebook: November 24 - Every Kid in a Park, Homelessness Awareness, Dark-Fired Tobacco

Fourth graders are invited to participate in the Every Kid in a Park program, which grants children and their immediate families fee-free access to the Homeplace 1850s Far and the Woodlands Nature Station at Land Between the Lakes. Obtain a paper pass, good through August 31, 2016, by visiting everykidinapark.gov.

The Gentry House is an emergency transitional homeless shelter in Murray dedicated to helping families with children by providing a rent- and utility-free place to stay. During Homelessness Awareness Week, the Gentry House seeks donations to further its mission. For more information or to donate, visit gentryhouse.org.

A museum exhibit titled “Set, Spike, and Smoke: Growing Dark-Fired Tobacco in 1907” remains on display through the end of the week at the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville- Christian County. The exhibit features tobacco, tools, historic photographs, and activities to showcase the specific steps of planting, growing, and curing dark-fired tobacco.
