Internationally-acclaimed pianist Frederic Chiu presents a solo piano recital titled "Classical Smackdown: Debussy vs. Prokofiev" Monday night at 8 in the Performing Arts Hall on the Murray State campus. The interactive recital pits the works of two composers in a head-to-head matchup. Audience members vote for their favorite, and the results are posted on classicalsmackdown.com. The performance is free and open to the public.
Louisville native and poet Mitchell L.H. Douglas shares works from his new poetry collection, "\blak\ \al-fe bet\," during a reading tomorrow afternoon at 2 in the Matheson Library at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. The reading is free and open to the public.
The Humane Society of Calloway County holds its Holiday Bazaar and Bake Sale Saturday from 9 to 2 at the Calloway County Public Library Community Room. The sale features baked goods, handmade crafts, gift items, and more. Proceeds help support the Humane Society's service programs.
