Datebook: May 4 - Spinners & Weavers Festival, Student Blood Drive, Fantastic Fibers 2015

The Southern Illinois Spinners & Weavers host their seventh annual festival this Saturday from 10 to 4 at Fort Massac State Park in Metropolis. The marketplace includes handcrafted textiles, hand-spun yarns, and spinning and felting items. Demonstrations including spinning, weaving, felting, and carding wool take place throughout the day. 

The American Red Cross offers high school and college students ages 16 to 24 the chance to win a scholarship by hosting a blood drive through the Leaders Save Lives program. A total of 10 scholarships will be awarded, as well as electronic gift cards for students meeting their collection goals. Get details and register at redcrossblood.org/leaderssavelives.

The “Fantastic Fibers 2015” exhibit remains on display through June 6 at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah. The international juried exhibition is an American Quilter’s Society sanctioned event. For more information, visit theyeiser.org or call (270) 442-2453.
