Datebook: July 29 - NASA Formed 55 Years Ago

President Eisenhower established the National Aeronautics and Space Administration on this day in 1958, with a civilian orientation encouraging peaceful applications in space science. Since then, NASA has led moon-landings, the Skylab space station, and the Space Shuttle... boldly going where no one has gone before.

Land Between the Lakes hosts an informational public meeting to discuss its road system tomorrow evening at 5:30 at the Grand Rivers Senior/Community Center. The meeting helps establish what roads exist now, what is needed for access, and what is affordable in the future. For details go to lbl.org and click on “Alerts & Notices.”

Murray-Calloway County Hospital holds a Kickoff Rally for the national Cancer Prevention Study-3 Wednesday at 11 in the North Tower Lobby. The study is open to anyone who is willing to make a long-term commitment to the study, is between the ages of 30 and 65, and has never been diagnosed with cancer. Court Appointed Special Advocates seeks volunteer advocates from the Murray-Calloway County area. Volunteers with the non-profit organization advocate for the timely and safe placement of abused and neglected children. Training is provided. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011.
