Datebook: January 7 - Footlights Classes, Smartphone Class, Oratorical Contest

Market House Theatre hosts a new trimester of Footlights beginning this Saturday. The four youth acting troupes for pre-K through 12th grade meet on Saturday mornings for 60-minute sessions to expand performance and interpersonal skills. There are also two tech classes focusing on scenic design, model making, scenic painting, sound, and lighting for grades 6-12. Pre-registration is required. 

The Calloway County Public Library offers a free computer class this coming Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 6:30. The class offers tips on Choosing the Right Smartphone. Register by calling or stopping by the library.

High school students are invited to participate in the American Legion Oratorical Contest. In the first phase, contestants speak for 8 to 10 minutes on an aspect of the Constitution of the United States with an emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens. The District One contest is January 24 at the Weaks Community Center in Murray.
