Datebook: February 18 - Polar Plunge, Empty Bowls, Father-Daughter Dance

The West Kentucky Polar Plunge for Special Olympics is this Saturday at 11:30 at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. Participants solicit donations to support their effort, then take a chilly dip in the lake. There’s also a Polar Plunge 5K, with registration at 7:30 and the race at 9. Empty Bowls 2015, a grassroots project to fight hunger, is this Saturday from 11:30 to 2 at the Julian Carroll Convention Center in Paducah. Attendees get their choice of a handmade ceramic bowl to fill with fare from almost 20 area restaurants. The project benefits the Community Kitchen. Tickets may be purchased at the door. The Paducah Symphony Orchestra hosts the 20th Annual Father-Daughter Dance this Saturday night from 6 to 10 at the Country Club of Paducah. Black tie optional. Make reservations by calling (270) 444-0065.
