The West Kentucky Polar Plunge for Special Olympics is this Saturday at 11:30 at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. Participants solicit donations to support their effort, then take a chilly dip in the lake. There’s also a Polar Plunge 5K, with registration at 7:30 and the race at 9. Empty Bowls 2015, a grassroots project to fight hunger, is this Saturday from 11:30 to 2 at the Julian Carroll Convention Center in Paducah. Attendees get their choice of a handmade ceramic bowl to fill with fare from almost 20 area restaurants. The project benefits the Community Kitchen. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
