Datebook: August 21 - Celebrate the Arts, Foster Care Review, Snakes Presentation

The Lee Academy in Paris, TN, hosts “Celebrate the Arts” tomorrow at the academy. The event includes workshops and demonstrations from 9 a.m. to noon, with a light lunch provided. Find out what classes are offered; watch demonstrations on stained glass-making, basket weaving, and painting; and see performances by the belly dancing, ballroom dancing, and children’s music classes. 

Citizen Foster Care Review Boards are seeking volunteers to review cases of children placed in foster care because of dependency, neglect, or abuse to ensure they are placed in safe permanent homes. Training is provided. More information on volunteering and to apply.

The Nature Station at Land Between the Lakes offers a presentation on snakes this Sunday at 11:30. Watch as Nature Station staff feed the rattlesnake, king snake, rat snake, and more. Cameras welcome. The program is free with admission to the Nature Station.
