Datebook 4/5: Send Silence Packing, Watershed Watch Volunteers, Nature Station Homeschooling

The Austin Peay State University chapter of Active Minds hosts "Send Silence Packing," an exhibition of 1,100 backpacks representing the number of U.S. college students who die by suicide every year. Many backpacks have photographs and stories of students who died by suicide. The event is this Friday in the Morgan University Center Plaza.

The Four Rivers Watershed Watch Project seeks volunteers interested in helping with stream quality surveys on streams, rivers, and lakes in the region. Data collected helps develop plans to enhance the streams for fishing, swimming, wildlife habitat, and drinking water supply. Volunteers are asked to attend one of two free training workshops. Register online at the project web page.

The Woodlands Nature Station holds Homeschoolers Month during April. Kids can pick up a Nature Discovery Activity Book and participate in a variety of exploration activities. Special programs are weekdays at 11:30.
