Clarksville, TN – Sales tax collections for Clarksville and Montgomery County, Tennessee are at record highs. Figures reached over $5.2 million, up some $200,000 over its last all-time high in 2007. The record collection comes on the heels of state officials announcing a shortfall in collections. Economic Development Council President James Chavez tells the Clarksville Leaf Chronicle the record is one more indicator economic diversification has helped the area weather much of the economic downturn that has crippled many communities.
