Hopkinsville Police Department, Facebook

A young boy has been killed after he was struck by a train this morning in Hopkinsville.

Police say two-year-old Trayton Joiner had been out walking a dog by the tracks when the train approached him. The conductor and engineer attempted to alert the child but failed.

The boy’s parents were at home and didn’t know he had left the house.

The dog was also struck and is undergoing treatment at a nearby clinic.
