Mayfield, KY – Mayfield city officials hope to have a new police chief sometime soon. Mayor Arthur Byrn says a search committee will spend today and tomorrow interviewing six candidates for the position. Two of them come from the Mayfield police department and the others are from various departments around the state. The candidates may face another round of interviews before Byrn makes his recommendation to the City Council, which he says could happen as early as June 8. The chosen officer will begin the job as soon as possible after his confirmation.
