Calloway County Library Welcomes Holocaust Survivor Fred Gross

Jenni Todd, WKMS

Calloway County Public Library has a new website for Spring 2015 and its filled with information about community events and activities. Sandy Linn stops by Sounds Good with a preview of some of those activities, including a series of programs featuring holocaust survivor Fred Gross and a literacy night on March 26 with education students.

Fred Gross is the author of One Step Ahead of Hitler: A Jewish Child's Journey Through France. As a young child during those years, he didn't know much about the history of the Holocaust, but learned later on the details of his experience from the accounts of his mother and brothers. Gross comes to Murray to speak at the library, in the schools and to have dinner with the cast of The Diary of Anne Frank at Playhouse in the Park.

The library is also partnering with education students from the Murray Area Council of the International Literacy Association for a literacy night for kids, "Lounging with Literacy."
