Calloway Co. Fiscal Court Calls Special Session To Discuss Library Issues

Rob Canning, WKMS

The Calloway County Fiscal Court is holding a special session Thursday to discuss items pertaining to the ongoing library board issue.

Judge Executive Larry Elkins has had several concerns with the library board in recent months, including their financial decisions, the proposed renovation and the process of appointing members to their board of trustees, which he has called ‘incestual.’

Board member Rick Lamkin is set to discuss ‘library financial issues.’ He says he plans to talk about recently released credit card statements and issues surrounding the proposed renovation.

The court is also set to discuss a resolution supporting Senate Bill 48, a bill that seeks to grant more power to judge executives, with fiscal court approval, to appoint members of library boards when appointees proposed by the board are not suitable.

The meeting is at 5 p.m. in the District Court Room.
