Calloway Bus Driver Treated Following Crash

Calloway County Sheriff's Office

Authorities say the driver of a Calloway County school bus has been treated for injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident early this morning.

Forty-nine-year-old Terrie Swift of Murray was preparing to start her route when a deer ran in front of the southbound bus on Radio Road at about 6:50 a.m.

Swift swerved to miss the animal, dropped off the shoulder and overcorrected.  The bus came to rest to rest on its right side in a ditch.  Since she had yet to begin pick-up, no children were aboard.

Swift was taken to Murray Calloway County Hospital for treatment.

Todd Hatton hails from Paducah, Kentucky, where he got into radio under the auspices of the late, great John Stewart of WKYX while a student at Paducah Community College. He also worked at WKMS in the reel-to-reel tape days of the early 1990s before running off first to San Francisco, then Orlando in search of something to do when he grew up. He received his MFA in Creative Writing at Murray State University. He vigorously resists adulthood and watches his wife, Angela Hatton, save the world one plastic bottle at a time.
