Caldwell Denied Parole

By Carrie Pond

Mayfield, KY – A woman imprisoned for her role in the 2000 murder of Jessica Currin has been denied parole. The Kentucky Parole Board issued Tamara Caldwell a serve-out earlier this week, making her ineligible for release until 2014. Justice Cabinet Communications Director Jennifer Brislin says the seriousness of the crime led officials to deny Caldwell's parole. She pleaded guilty last year to manslaughter and abuse of a corpse and received a 10- year sentence. Currin was 18 when her burned body was discovered behind Mayfield Middle Schools. Caldwell and five others have been convicted or pleaded guilty in her death.
