Board Suspends Chief Tapp
Paducah, KY – The Reidland-Farley Fire Department board of trustees moved to suspend Chief Richard Tapp without pay yesterday. Board Chairman David Humphrey tells the Paducah Sun Tapp has not been on duty since the week after Thanksgiving and hasn't communicated with them since then. The board received a letter from Tapp's wife, claiming he is in the care of a Memphis hospital with a serious, but unspecified medical condition. He is expected to face administrative charges that could lead to his dismissal. Tapp is McCracken County's only paid volunteer fire department chief.
