Murray, KY – Governor Steve Beshear says he and Attorney General Jack Conway have rejected proposals offered up by officials at University Hospital in Louisville. The proposals were submitted after Beshear decided the hospital could not merge with two large health care companies. Beshear says the hospital's ideas wouldn't address his and Conway's concerns about the original proposal, including how the merger would affect reproductive health care in Louisville. Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's HealthCare and Saint Joseph Health System announced their merger Friday. The companies had sought to include University Hospital, but Beshear's intrusion stopped the action.
