A diverse line-up of artists were juried into the LowerTown Arts & Music Festival this Friday and Saturday in Paducah. Their work includes ceramics, wood, photography, batik, henna, beading, glass and more. Madison, Alabama resident Heather Baumbach brings her acrylic paintings to the beauty of every day life. Baumbach also has over 20 years of design and production experience in stage, television and film. Kate Lochte speaks with Baumbach on Sounds Good about her work.
Heather Baumbach's painting aesthetic captures the beauty of everyday life. She says she's inspired by things that she and her family find joyful and beautiful. Attending the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, she took costume design class and fell in love with drawing costume renderings. From there, she drew water colors and acrylic and paints primarily in acrylic today. Her paintings can either be fast and 'gestural' or sketched in charcoal with acrylic slowly worked in over multiple layers.
Baumbach is one of fifty-plus artists whose works will be for sale and on display in the booths of the LowerTown Arts & Music Festival this Friday and Saturday. See her paintings on Facebook at Heather Baumbach Art.
