Baptist Health Announces Departure of CEO

Facebook

A Kentucky-based health care system has announced the departure of its chief executive officer after four years on the job.

Steve Hanson's departure as CEO of Baptist Health comes less than a week after 288 positions were eliminated across its system, including nearly 170 in the Louisville area.

Hanson served as CEO since March 2013, and no explanation was given for his departure Tuesday. Baptist Health's board chairman, Allen Rudd, thanked Hanson for his contributions.

The system says its board appointed two veteran executives to provide shared interim executive leadership as it begins a nationwide search for Hanson's successor.

The Baptist Health system includes nine hospitals — eight owned and one managed — as well as urgent care clinics, outpatient diagnostic and surgery centers, home care and physical therapy clinics.
