Murray State’s Theatre Department will run a production of Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie” opening February 18 in the Robert E. Johnson Theater. Director Lissa Graham-Schneider about the play.

Graham-Schneider describes the play as a relatable family drama, and one of the all-time greats. She says it’s Williams’ most biographical work, depicting many of the playwright’s life experiences in its plot.

The director says she also has a personal connection to the story; her parents met while starring in their own production of “The Glass Menagerie.”

When casting her own production, Graham-Schneider says all characters will be played by students. This is her second time working on the play, having previously served as a stage manager.

She describes herself as a visual-oriented director, something she feels will be reflected in the play

“We’re trying to do this illusion where the stage is actually floating,” Graham-Schneider said. “’m hoping it’s going to look like the inside of Tom’s (the main character) head.”

“The Glass Menagerie” Opens February 18. For tickets, call (270) 809-4421.
