[Audio] Lowertown Arts and Music Festival Kicks off Next Week

LowerTown Arts & Music Festival

This year’s Lowertown Arts and Music Festival kicks off next week in Paducah.

Co-directors Michael and Victoria Terra talk with Tracy Ross on Sounds Good about the upcoming event.

Victoria says the community support has been outstanding, with plenty of local artists and musicians planning to take part along with 15 food vendors.

Michael calls it a “celebration of what we do right around here.” He says the event is the perfect mix of music, art and food for the region.

A new feature of this year’s festival is a series of donation boxes accompanied by sculptures from Michael and local artists. The event is free, and the Terras say community support is what makes Lowertown possible.

The festival kicks off May 13, and you can find the full calendar at the event’s official website.

Tracy started working for WKMS in 1994 while attending Murray State University. After receiving his Bachelors and Masters degrees from MSU he was hired as Operations/Web/Sports Director in 2000. Tracy hosted All Things Considered from 2004-2012 and has served as host/producer of several music shows including Cafe Jazz, and Jazz Horizons. In 2001, Tracy revived Beyond The Edge, a legacy alternative music program that had been on hiatus for several years. Tracy was named Program Director in 2011 and created the midday music and conversation program Sounds Good in 2012 which he hosts Monday-Thursday. Tracy lives in Murray with his wife, son and daughter.
