On 250 acres of lush, natural scenery with three lakes, a new two-story gray stone senior center is waiting for "beautiful people" to make it their home. The Lakes of Paducah is opening this month, and Executive Director Shannon Livingston talks with Kate Lochte on Sounds Good today to tell us more about the new 42-unit assisted living center.
Located on Olivet Church Road in Paducah, The Lakes of Paducah had long been a dream of Shannon's mom and dad since the late 80's when they first bought the land.
"They built their home and dug the ponds when my dad decided it would be a great place for retired seniors to come and live," Shannon said. "Then we'd be able to expand on it... and keep it here for the community even after my parents are gone. It's been a vision he's had for quite a while."
The suites are one and two-bedroom studio or alcove apartments, each with a screened-in patio, master bathroom, walk-in closet, and kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, and granite countertops. Residents can also expect three meals prepared for them daily as well as housekeeping and a personal laundry service.
Amenities include a club room with dining area and bar, social activities, a beauty salon and barber, and much more.
"My mom and the decorator have worked really hard on making the place feel comfortable, upscale and just a really happy place to come and live," Shannon said.
The Grand Opening for The Lakes of Paducah is set for September 13, 2015.
