AG Beshear at Multiple Paducah Events Tuesday

Rob Canning, WKMS

Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear will be in Paducah Tuesday for several justice-related events.

At mid-day, the democratic AG will join Paducah Mayor Gayle Kaler and McCracken County Judge-Executive Bob Leeper to discuss Scam Alert, a consumer protection service, with area senior citizens.

At 2pm, Beshear will announce a partnership between his office and Kentucky's rape crisis centers.

Last month, Governor Matt Bevinsigned a law to return more than 3,000 backlogged rape kits, some of which have been on the shelf since the 1960s, to local police offices across the state.

A settled state lawsuit from earlier this year resulted in the AG’s Office providing $4.5 million to the Kentucky State Police Crime Lab to prevent future backlogs.

At 4pm, Beshear will speak for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day along with Paducah Police and county Sheriff officials at Heartland Worship Center.
